#How to install nvidia drivers without 3d drivers
Keep using Legacy and find some way of installing the drivers without the black screen and the screen tearing? Finding some way of actually being able to boot with UEFI? Did I make a mistake while installing LM a few months ago? Is reinstalling LM and losing everything I have in this computer my only option? It's been 5 hours since I started this torturous journey and right now I don't know what the hell I should do. So again, I switched to UEFI, disabled secure boot and rebooted only to goet stuck in the LM loading screen. After a few more hours of looking all over the internet I realised that this was happening because I was using Legacy, and not UEFI. As I hadn't tried that the last time, I went into the BIOS menu with the intention of disabling the secure boot only to find out that the "Secure Boot" option was not showing up. Today I decided to try my luck again and I've read a few tutorials talking about "disabling secure boot". However, I started experiencing screen tearing (so even though I wasn't running that low on FPS, this made it impossible to play), so I had to uninstall all the drivers again. However, in order to do so, I had to uninstall the NVIDIA drivers.Īfter a few hours of following tutorials and youtube videos, I endend I don't know how running that first game with the GeForce card (or at least that's what I think).

So, again, I looked up for some tutorials, which helped me fixing the black screen problem. Right after booting the Linux Mint loading screen would show up for some time before turning into a black screen. Everything seemed fine until I had to reboot.

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Device 5916 (rev 02)Ġ3:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM108M (rev a2)Īfter doing some research, I concluded that I was in fact using the integrated graphics card, so I download the NVIDIA drivers from their website, and afterwards, from the drivers section in LM settings, and the NVIDIA settings application following a few tutorials.
